Surf Trip Saver: Board Bag Rentals in Orange County

As the South Pacific starts churning…so does our urge to skip town on a barrel bender. Finally, Basham’s has answered the age-old question of what to do when you are lacking a board bag but can’t shell out the 2 or 3 hundo+ for a new one. Getting past the baggage fees will set you back enough, so save that extra cash for coldies, and rent out a quality quiver case for around $40 – $80 from The Factory at Basham’s.

Go talk shop with Maurice (the guy with the Mohawk) and he will gear you up so your boards get off the plane without breaking a nose, rail…or your bank account.
Bags range from 7’0” to 10’2” and vary by price depending on length of trip, and size of bag. So when the grom down the street comes creedeling over to snag your bag, send him down to the surf ghetto on Calle de los Molinos in San Clemente. The boys at the Factory at Bashams are in the business of hooking up scraping surfers like us.
As far as we know this is an industry first, so we got to hand it to the guys at Basham’s for this trip saver. But be careful, its hard to leave that place without a new or used board (there’s at least 500). Especially because they’ll even let you demo one of their filthy new hybrid models like the Quadalupe, Bamburger, or What The Fish?!
This could change your whole traveling budget, so don’t give up on that trip. The season of souths is upon us.

OBSS Turkey Bowl – Mmm, mmm good!

Ocean Beach Surf & Skate would like to give thanks to all their loyal fans this Thanksgiving with a gut-buster of an event. Gobble up great savings and grub at the OBSS Turkey Bowl and Parking Lot Sale on Sunday, November 29, 2009 from 10:00 a.m. – 6:00 p.m. This surf and skate expo will feature exclusive sale booths from various Ocean Beach Surf & Skate vendors, as well as great grub grilled to perfection by OB locals. Festival goers will also groove to great tunes from San Diego artists such as the incredibly talented and young, Blonde Bros, the surf reggae band, FieldTrip, and many more! But that’s not all: OBSS will also have a full ramp set-up and open skate sessions through out the day. Black Friday doesn’t have anything on this blow-out parking lot sale!

Lately, everyone has been hitting us hard and heavy with their videos. Keep ‘em coming, we say. The two clips featured above come courtesy of Infinity Surfboards in Dana Point alumni. The first spotlights legendary shaper Terry Senate explaining his design theories of his famed thruster, the Hook Rail, circa 1980. For a limited time Infinity is again offering this design, using the original template and shaped by the man himself!
The second clip showcases Infinity shaper Dan Boehne charging hard on one of his own designs.

2-Fer Sale this weekend at rusty del mar

The city of Del Mar has no idea what’s in store for them this weekend. Forget hitting the track, get yourself over to Rusty’s for their mammoth 2-for -1 clothing sale. Everything, and we do mean EVERTHING is up for grabs — just as long as it’s equal or lesser value. And not to be outdone, their amazing selection of wetsuits and accessories have been marked down 20%. Just to let you know how serious this event is, a dozen or so U-Haul’s are already lined up around the block. Get some!

Red Dog Is On The Loose

Fluid surf hosts blow out end-of-summer sale

Did you hear? All the cool kids are spraining their thumbs texting about Fluid Surf’s annual end-of-summer sidewalk sale, happening August 28 – 30.
