rusty surf contest

Rusty Boardhouse and Surfboards in La Jolla will be hosting the first Rusty Surfboard challenge at La Jolla Shores on Oct. 17th. But unlike any other contest, instead of riding your own board they’ll pick your stick for you. No one knows what they’ll be riding until the heat starts. Will you get a quad, a fish or a tri? No one knows for sure. Think you have what it takes to dominate on any ride in uncertain conditions? Bring $25 and your entry form to 2170 Avenida De La Playa, La Jolla, CA to find out. The 1st place prize will include a new Rusty Surfboard.

PARTY HEARTY: THALIA SURF and the surf gallery LAUNCH KORDUROY.TV THIS FRIDAY

korduroy_thalia_e_flyer1

This Friday, August 14th, Thalia Surf  and The Surf Gallery will host the launch party for Korduroy.tv. What is Korduroy.tv exactly? We’re so glad you asked. As the brainchild of Cyrus Sutton, filmmaker, artist, and all around awesome fellow, this revolutionary project promotes self-sufficiency, craftsmanship, and the organic surfing experience of original design. As a communal collaboration of sorts, Sutton seeks to have surf shapers around the globe document and share their expertise via video tutorials. Not to be outdone, partner in crime Jon Wegener, Alaia extraordinaire, will also be premiering his own video: “Creation Plantation”.

The party starts at 6:30 pm with music from hometown heroes THE RYDE, and loads of tasty grub and grog. Come early and plan to stay late, as this event has been hyped as Laguna Beach’s biggest party of the summer.
