Endless Summer was my inspriration for surf travel. Guy’s like Mike Henson and Robert August started the movement. I Grew up in the surf Getto’s of LA in the early 1970’s. A “Board bag” wasn’t even invented yet. Getting on a plane and searching for that perfect wave was all I could think of. Until, I got to the airport and they said. How are you going to protect that thing? The airlines gave me cardboard boxes for garments. So I taped them together. Shoved my 6ft single fin in the box and away I went. Flying from LA to San Diego on my first “Surf trip” (True story) Since then the information Hwy has really changed a few things. I’ve been lucky to travel all around the world. Surfing and enjoying the people and places of many different cultures. It’s been a great way to live and I’m still living it. Oh, I’ve also had many many Board bags over the years. I’ve learned to always protect the nose and tail no matter what and have a good and caring attitude towards the people you meet.

It seems kinda like an unnecessary expense considering buying a board bag will pay for itself in a matter of about 4 surf trips.

It may not have been a bag for a board, but the last time I went spearfishing in mex my “Board Bag” consisted of 3 pairs of Levis and 2 yards of duct tape wrapped around my spear gun. The airline was a bit hesistant but it made it to Loreto safe and sound. Flew back the same way with an extra 40 lbs of amberjack.
